“Welcome Matt” Ministry Kicks Off at St. Peter’s Uniontown

On Sunday, November 9, 2025, the congregation at St. Peter’s Anglican Church in Uniontown, PA, welcomed over two dozen members of the community into their parish house for their inaugural “Welcome Matt” luncheon. A play on words, the name of the event was inspired by Matthew 25:35, “For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me.”

Several crockpots were emptied by the end of the meal.

The congregation prepared a hot meal and donated coats and hoodies for guests to take with them. The rector, the Rev. Bill Starke, even created fun, seasonal placemats for the event.

St. Peter’s plans to continue hosting their Welcome Matt lunches every second Sunday.

“God is good,” says Father Bill, “and things are happening in the hinterlands of the southern part of the Diocese.”
