Welcoming Global Missions Advocate Gretchen Roderick

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Gretchen Roderick as our new diocesan global missions advocate, a volunteer role focused on strengthening global missions engagement across our parishes. She succeeds the Rev. Dr. Capt. Deb Carr, who recently retired from the role after years of faithful service.

As global missions advocate, Gretchen will work at the diocesan and congregational levels to promote Anglican participation in global missions, and will network provincially with fellow global missions advocates and representatives from our New Wineskins Anglican Partners. For local parishes, that translates into practical support: she is available to help congregations pray more intentionally for global workers, identify giving opportunities, and take concrete steps toward sending and supporting cross-cultural missionaries.

Gretchen brings decades of missionary experience to the role. She and her husband Brad served as missionaries in the United States for five years, then as cross-cultural workers in south and southeast Asia for nineteen years, during which they raised their two sons overseas. She holds a master’s in intercultural studies and missiology.

When asked to tell us about herself for this article, Gretchen said, “If I had a tee shirt made it might read: ‘I like my coffee black, my beer stout, and my whiskey neat.'”

Parishes interested in connecting with Gretchen about global missions resources or next steps are encouraged to reach out to missions@adpgh.org.
